In RTP the data transport is augmented by a control protocol (RTCP) to allow monitoring of the data deliverance in a manner scalable to large multi cast networks, and to provide minimal control and identification functionality. In short The Real-Time Transport Protocol provides end-to-end network transport functions appropriate for applications transmitting real-time data such as audio, video or simulation data, over multicast or unicast network services. RTP and RTCP are designed to be independent of the underlying transport and network layers ....etc

Challenges
many technical challenges are faced by the multimedia networking as real-time data has to be sent over non-real time network. The need to provide , high data rate over limited network bandwidth and unpredictable availability of network bandwidth are the other problems. Many are designed for specific application and hence the factor of reusability is not present in them. Also , the receiver has a limited buffer for any multimedia application, hence , the buffer can be overflowed if the data arriv ....etc

The advent of Voice over IP (VoIP) has given a new dimension to Internet and opened a host of new possibilities and opportunities for both corporate and public network planners. More and more companies are seeing the value of
transporting voice over IP networks to reduce telephone and facsimile costs.

Adding voice to packet networks requires an understanding of how to deal with system level challenges such as interoperability, packet loss, delay, density, scalability, and reliability. This is because of the real time constraint ....etc

Abstract
Two of the existing reliable transport layer protocols for wireless sensor networks- Distributed TCP Caching and Event To Sink Reliable Transport protocol, does not score well in terms of efficiency. Considering the total number of retransmissions as a QoS parameter for efficiency, our protocol k-RTP ( k Hop Reliable Transport Protocol ) is promising. In our protocol only the nodes do cache the packets and retransmit them in case of packet loss. The value of k is varied dynamically depending on the rate of packet loss in the network. ....etc

One of the key step in formal verification is the construction of a formal model of the system to be verified and these models can be visualized as a finite state machine. And model checking is the technique of systematically verifying a system against a set of intended properties. Any Model Checker thus explores all possible interleaved executions of the state machine. Given a specification of the system in terms of a finite state machine and property to be verified, model
checker automatically explores the state space in order to find an exe ....etc

Hardware Abstraction Layer - HAL

HAL is Microsoft's abbreviation for the Hardware Abstraction Layer, the technology and drivers that let the Windows NT, 2000, and XP operating systems communicate with your PC's hardware. HAL is one of several features--along with the NT file system (NTFS) that replaced the much less secure MS-DOS--that make NT-based operating systems more secure and reliable than Windows 95, 98, and Me.

HAL prevents applications from directly accessing your PC's system memory, C ....etc
