This paper is an overview of the sources and nature of various transient over voltages and the problems that may result in a low voltage ac distribution system. Voltage transients may be repeatable transients or random impulses and they have got remarkable effects on semiconductors, electrochemical contacts, insulation etc. Switching parallel loads on the same branch of distribution system as well as lighting are responsible for these transient overvoltages. Abstract
This paper proposes a two-phase scheme for removing salt-and-pepper impulse noise. In the first
phase, an adaptive median filter is used to identify pixels which are likely to be contaminated by noise
(noise candidates). In the second phase, the image is restored using a specialized regularization method
