Light emitting polymers or polymer based light emitting diodes discovered by Friend et al in 1990 has been found superior than other displays like, liquid crystal displays (LCDs) vacuum fluorescence displays and electro luminescence displays. Though not commercialised yet, these have proved to be a mile stone in the filed of flat panel displays. Research in LEP is underway in Cambridge Display Technology Ltd (CDT), the UK.

Abstract

In foam extrusion, material density is the most significant factor affecting the product cost and therefore the profitability of the manufacturing process. A reduction in the density of extruded parts reduces the raw material cost and therefore increases its profitability. On the other hand, a reduction in foam density degrades the mechanical properties and geometrical accuracy of extruded parts. It is shown that several (single-mode) models (PTT, XPP) are basically special cases of the General Network model. The XPP model of Verbeeten et al (2001) is shown to give an identical response to a PTT model at high elongational rates, but the models differ in shear flow at high shear rates.
