Abstract

An integrated photonic microwave bandpass filter has been demonstrated incorporating a coherently coupled microring resonator in low-loss polymers. The resonator was designed to have an extremely small bandwidth so that it could be used to selectively pass the optical signal carrying the microwave signal to attain efficient bandpass filtering. The demonstrated device may feature compact size, simple structure, stable operation, possible tuning via the thermooptic effect, and furthermore flexible integration with other electrical/opt ....etc

FCC on 2002 approves the use of unlicensed UWB for commercial purposes.
Although UWB technology is old, its application for
communication is relatively new, thanks to FCC.

Some mind-boggling applications including UWB Radar, Wireless USB, Wireless PAN, UWB

The aliasing signal interferes with the actual signal and resembles more-like the original intermediate signal. This is called image frequency. To eliminate this image frequency a filter is to be designed in the RF (Radio Front) stage. At S-band microwave frequency (2 GHz to 4 GHz), the lumped components cannot be used due to distributed effects.
