Abstract


One way to build a remote sketching system is to use a video camera to image what each user draws at their site, transmit the video to the other sites, and display it there using an LCD projector. We analyze the feedback loop in Tele-Graffiti, a cameraprojectorbased remote sketching system which we recentlydeveloped. We derive the gain through the feedback loopand the final images that will be viewed by the users of thesystem. We then derive the “optimal gain” as the gain thatresults in the final viewed images being as close as possibleto the sum of the images actually drawn on the paper. Tele-graffiti is a technology that allows two or more users to communicate remotely via hand-drawn sketches. What one person writes at one site is captured by a video camera, transmitted to the other site and displayed there using an LCD projector.

The system was developed at Robotics Institute of Carnegie Mellon university, Pittsburg. The system comprises of a digital camera, a high resolution LCD projector to project the received image, a mirror to reflect the projected image onto the paper, fixture to hold these devices in position and a ....etc

ABSTRACT
We present an installation that allows distributed internet participants to “draw” on a public scene using light. The iLight system is a camera/projector system designed for remote collaboration. Using a familiar digital drawing interface, remote users “draw” on a live video image of a real-life object or scene. Graphics drawn by the user are then projected onto the scene, where they are visible in the camera image. Because camera distortions are corrected and the video is aligned with the image canvas, drawn graphics ....etc
