INTRODUCTION
A multi-point injection system, also called port injection, has an injector in the port (air-fuel passage) going to each cylinder. Gasoline is sprayed into each intake port and toward each intake valve. Thereby, the term multi-point (more than one location) fuel injection is used. Multipoint fuel injection (MFI) locates an injector immediately upstream of each inlet valve, which enables better control of the air/fuel mixture to each cylinder.

ABSTRACT
Compared with petrol, diesel is the lower quality product of petroleum family. Diesel particles are larger and heavier than petrol, thus more difficult to pulverize. Imperfect pulverization leads to more unburnt particles, hence more pollutant, lower fuel efficiency
and less power.
Common-rail technology is intended to improve the pulverization process. Conventional direct injection diesel engines must repeatedly generate fuel pressure for each injection. But in the CRDI engines the pressure ....etc

The world is surely and steadily moving towards the newer generation of direction injection diesels, be it unit injected or common-railed. Mercedes Benz had already introduced the common rail engine in India a few years back but then they are the technology leaders worldwide and augur no comparisons. so. it was a matter of time before one of the other car manufacturers in India took up the challenge and introduced the engine in a car that could be available to a much larger segment of the car-buying populace.
