ABSTRACT
OCR system converts scanned input document into editable text document. This report presents the detailed description about the characteristics of Devanagari Script .How it is different from the other roman scripts. And what makes the OCR for any roman script different from the OCR for Devanagari script. INTRODUCTION
One of the classical applications of Artificial Neural Network is Noisy Character Recognition. Character Recognition finds its applications in a number if area, such as in banking, security products, hospitals, evaluations of examination papers, answer sheets and even in robotics.
In this project we aim to design and implement a neural network for performing character recognition. Because of the great flexibility in MATLAB’s Neural Network Toolbox, we will be using it for the whole implementation.

Abstract
Image Processing is now a days considered to be a favorite topic in the IT industry. One of its major applications is Optical Character Recognition (OCR). When the object to be matched is presented then our brains or in general recognition system starts extracting the important features of the object that includes color, depth, shape & size. These features are stored in the part of the memory.
