Steel Company Modernization Project Report

This is a Project Report of one month Summer Training Program held in a Steel Company which undergoes Modernization bcoz of the old age of existing plant.
Modernization consists of building a totally new plant to increase the production to 2.5 mtpa previously which is less than 1 mtpa.
In Modernization 15 different construction company of India and 3 companies from foreign involved with 0ne consultant company to built theses:-

Better access to information regarding current position of various shops and past performance.

Aid in better heat planning due to proper exchange of information.

Better coordination between different sections.

Time and man power saving in preparation of production query/reports.

Transfer of important data to other systems like CCS, S.Mill & EDP computer systems.

It is often desirable for structural steel members to pass through a fire wall
or common wall rather than being curtailed on each side of the wall. In such cases, the penetrating member will often be fire protected for a certain length on each side of the wall so as to minimise the possibility of fire spread through heat conduction and excessive temperature rise of the member on the unexposed side of the wall. Construction material subjected to repetitive or cyclic loading have to be qualified for their fatigue behaviour. Generally their behaviour is considered satisfactory if they withstand two million cycle of repetitive loading without distress or failure at that required mean stress level and range stress.
The recent research in reinforcing Portland cement based material with randomly distributed fibres was spurred by pioneering research or fibre reinforced concrete (FRC) conducted in the United state in the 1960s.The addition of fibre in the co ....etc

Abstract :

The case study project is significant since mild steel is used in structure, case hardening, gears, free cutting steels, shafting, forging etc. Mild steel plates were tested for mechanical properties like hardness, tensile strength, yield point etc. Later on the plates were joined by submerged arc welding and the mechanical properties were estimated again. Also weld ability, harden ability, tensile test etc. were conducted for the same result. ....etc
