RADAR AND SYNTHETIC APERTURE RADAR BASICS
PRINCIPLES OF RADAR
HOW DOES RADAR WORK?

• RADAR = Radio Detection And Ranging
• Since radar pulses propagate at the speed of light, the difference to the “target” is proportional to the time it takes between the transmit event and reception of the radar echo
PRINCIPLES OF IMAGING RADAR
REAL APERTURE RADAR
• PRINCIPLES OF IMAGING RADAR
THE RADAR EQUATION
• The SNR is derived from the radar equation:

Need of IPv6

As we are nearly out of the four billion addresses available in IPv4, IPv6 could be the solution to many problems.

IPv6 addresses are four times the size of IPv4 addresses.

An IPv4 address has 32 bits, while IPv6 address has 128 bits.

For IPv4, this pool is 32-bits (232) in size and contains 4,294,967,296 IPv4 addresses.

The IPv6 address space is 128-bits (2128) in size, containing 340,282,366,920,938,463,463,374,607,431,768,211,456 IPv6 addresses. ....etc

Spectrum and bandwidth
• Electromagnetic signals are made up of many frequencies
• Shown in the next example
• Spectrum and bandwidth
• The 2nd frequency is an integer multiple of the first frequency
– When all of the frequency components of a signal are integer multiples of one frequency, the latter frequency is called fundamental frequency (f)
– period of the resultant signal is equal to the period of the fundamental frequency
• Period of s(t) is T=1/f
Fourier Analysis
• Any signal is made up ....etc

Modulation & Demodulation
Modulation

Modulation - process (or result of the process) of translation the baseband message signal to bandpass (modulated carrier) signal at frequencies that are very high compared to the baseband frequencies.
Demodulation is the process of extracting the baseband message back the modulated carrier.
An information-bearing signal is non-deterministic, i.e. it changes in an unpredictable manner.
Why Carrier?
Effective radiation of EM waves requires antenna dimensions comparabl ....etc
