Silicon-controlled rectifiers (SCR) are solidstate semiconductor devices that are usually used in power switching circuits. SCR controls the output signal by switching it ‘on’ or ‘off’, thereby controlling the power to the load in context. The two primary modes of SCR control are phase-angle fired-where a partial waveform is passed to regulate the power.

This project explains about a simple low cost circuit which can be mainly used in large scale industries to detect the high temperature and take immediate measures. This circuit is used to sense the temperature at a place. It indicates the temperature on the 7 Segment Display with the help of microcontroller. POWER SUPPLY
The input to the circuit is applied from the regulated power supply. The a.c. input i.e., 230V from the mains supply is step down by the transformer to 5V and is fed to a rectifier. The output obtained from the rectifier is a pulsating d.c voltage. So in order to get a pure d.c voltage, the output voltage from the rectifier is fed to a filter to remove any a.c components present even after rectification. Now, this voltage is given to a voltage regulator to obtain a pure constant dc voltage
