Q.1. Mention some of the transducers.

Ans). Variable Resistor, Variable Inductor, Variable Condenser, Synchros & Resolvers.

Q.2. Indicate the advantages of LVDT.
Ans). The advantages of LVDT are: -
(I) Linearity
(Ii) Infinite resolution
(Iii) High performance
(Iv) High sensitivity
(V) Robustness
(Vi) Less friction
(Vii) Less hysterical
(Viii) Lower energy consumption

Q.3. State of the disadvantages of LVDT?
Ans). The disadvantages of LVDT are: -
(I) Large displacements are necessary for an appreciable differential output
(Ii) are sensitive to the lost magnetic field
(Iii) The dynamic response is limited by the mass of the nucleus
(Iv) The variation in temperature affects the transducer.

Q.4. Define the transducer?
Ans). It is a device that converts a non-electric quantity into an electrical quantity

Q.5.What is the pressure transducer?
Ans). It is a device that converts the pressure into mechanical displacement which is subsequently converted into electrical quantity using a secondary transducer.

Q.6.Do you supply pressure sensitive devices in common use?
Ans). Commonly used pressure sensitive devices are weld tubes, bellows and diaphragms.

Q.7.What are the advantages of bridges?
Ans). The accuracy of the measurement is high as the measurement performed by comparing the known and unknown value. The accuracy is independent of the characteristics of a null detector and depends on the value of the component.

Q.8.What is meant by balanced condition for the Wheatstone bridge?
Ans). It is said that the bridge is balanced when there is no current flow through the galvanometer, so the potential difference across the galvanometer must be zero R1R4 = R3R2

Q.9. What is the sensitivity of the Wheatstone Bridge?
Ans). Sensitivity = Deflection (D) / Sensitive current (I)

Q.10. Are RTDs and Thermocouples Intrinsically Safe?
Ans). Yes. Both are classified as passive devices and are therefore classified as intrinsically safe
