SIWES unit
The Industrial Work Studies program (SIWES) is a skills training program designed to expose and prepare students from universities, polytechnics / technology colleges and education colleges for the industrial work situation likely to meet after graduation. The program also offers students the opportunity to become familiar with and expose themselves to the necessary experience in handling equipment and machinery that are not usually available in their institutions. It is a cooperative program of industrial internships that includes higher education institutions, industries, the Federal Government of Nigeria, the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) and the University Commission of Nigeria (NUC).
The Industrial Labor Students Unit (SIWES) of the Federal University Ndufu Igual Ikwo was established by the Vice Chancellor Oye Ibidapo Obe, FAS, FAEng, OFR in 2015 as an Industrial Coordination Unit in the Office of the Vice-Chancellor to Assist Students In industrial attachment.
The staff of the foundation was six (6) persons, composed of a Coordinator who is responsible to the Vice-Rector for the day-to-day business of the office and for the Administration, Coordination and Supervision of all its activities. The other staff includes an administrative assistant, a data entry lead helper, a desk officer, and an office assistant.
