1.1 ONLINE CHESS ASSOICATION- AN OVERVIEW
The Project Online Chess Association deals with the processing of web based chess association in Coimbatore. The goal of this project is to manage the different registration details and the tournament information about the Coimbatore chess association online. The dynamic information about the tournament details, tournament payment are handled by the administrator. This system enhances the workflow involved in the registration of the user and the tournament involved, by managing the authorization. The registered players are provided with unique registration number and their admission reports are generated.
This project involves various processes online in the chess association. The first process is the Registration of the user i.e. players. The users can register through online to check out the tournament details. After the registration the registered users are allowed to receive their receipts. In the Admission Payment process, the users pay the amount for their admission in the chess association. The administrator activates the user registration and provides the unique registration number to the user.
All the information about the tournaments is managed in the Tournament process .The required details are updated in respective categories by the administrator. The tournament details comprises of previous tournament information such as winners, date commenced, time duration of the respective tournaments. It also displays the types of tournament available for the users based on their inputs. This process deals with the collection of information and reports for the effective management of tournaments involved.
1.2 OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT
The goal of this project is to manage the different registration details and the tournament information about the Coimbatore chess association online. The data is accessed only by the authorized people. The database can be restricted to the type of people accessing them. This system can be used to automate the workflow that come from various tournament details. The dynamic information about the tournament details, tournament payment are handled by the administrator. This system enhances the workflow involved in the registration of the user and the tournament involved, by managing the authorization
The Searching process also involved to search the detail about the tournaments. The authorized users are allowed to register for the tournament. The date of commencement of all tournaments, venue of the tournament, number of participants is listed to the user. The status of the tournament is updated by the administrator and user can view the information available. Tournament payments are made by the user and their confirmations are carried out by administrator.

The Existing system is manual one. Readability of records is constrained. Also a huge amount of paper document is needed to maintain all these data. The chance of data loss is much large in this case. The main problem with the day to day maintenance of the administration system is that more handwritten entries are involved in the maintenance work which can be done a single computer. It takes a long time to find the information about a relevant person.
As the existing system was manual one, tournaments conducted and its details are documented.
Registration of the players and tournament details are maintained in written documents
Time consumption is too large while registering for the tournament and other activities carried out in the association.
During the development, the management needs to keep track of information about the status of player through written documents.
Lack of security since data is stored in spreadsheets it is freely available to anyone.
Have to re-copy data over and over again to maintain it in separate data files.
Cannot efficiently identify data errors.
There is a lack of detailed sorting and querying abilities in spread sheets.
Cannot create reports regarding tournament and players like databases.
Spreadsheets are restricted to a finite number of records, and can require a large amount of hard-drive space for data storage.
