Current State of the Art Metabolic Profiling Techniques

Metabolic Profiling: Analysis of a group of metabolites either related to a specific metabolic pathway or a class of compounds.
Metabolic Fingerprinting: Compare patterns of metabolites that change in response to disease, toxin exposure, environmental or genetic alterations.

No single technology available to detect all compounds found in plants
Combination of multiple analytical techniques

Gas chromatography (GC)-MS
Liquid chromatography (LC)-MS
Capillary electrophoresis (CE)-MS
Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)
Metabolic Profiling similar to the old VO2 Max tests but with some valuable additional information which can be gained without the necessity for you to work to exhaustion, something that can worry individuals just starting cycling and even those more experienced cyclists
