The Defense Security Corps (DSC), formerly known as the Department of Defense Police Center, was founded on February 25, 1947 in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. The Defense Security Corps, with 31,000 employees, provides security at the Ministry of Defense sites. The role of Defense Security Corps is to ensure the protection and security of designated Defense Installations against sabotage and theft. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and the Defense Security Corps (DSC) provide security in the Indian artillery factories, the nuclear laboratories in India and the establishments of the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), respectively. The CISF is purely a security force of the central civilian government and although the DSC is a dependent force of the Ministry of Defense and comprises mainly retired soldiers who are hired again for a few years.
