Circuit diagram and abstract on fault detection and location using microcontroller
Many electricity transmission companies around the world and Ghana in particular are continually looking for ways to use modern technologies to improve the reliability of the power supply to consumers. These transmission companies rely primarily on circuit indicators (FCI) to help locate specific points within their transmission lines where a power failure has occurred. An intelligent GSM-based fault detection and detection system was used to accurately and accurately locate and locate the exact place where the fault occurred. This will ensure a shorter response time for technical staff to rectify these failures and thus help save processors from damage and disaster. The system uses a current transformer, a voltage transformer, a PIC 16F877 microcontroller, an RS-232 connector and a GSM modem. The system automatically detects faults, analyzes and classifies these faults and then calculates the failure distance from the control room using an algorithm method based on impedance. Finally, the fault information is transmitted to the control room. In conclusion, the time required to locate a fault is drastically reduced, as the system automatically and accurately provides accurate information about the location of the fault.
