What is negative side of gifi? Why not implemented by mobileanufactures?

Thanks,
Jay
Gi-Fi or wireless gigabit refers to wireless communication at a data rate of more than one billion gigabit bits per second. In 2004, some newspaper companies used the term "Gi-Fi" to refer to the faster versions of the IEEE 802.11 standards marketed under the Wi-Fi brand.

In 2008, researchers at the University of Melbourne demonstrated a transceiver integrated into a single integrated circuit (chip) operating at 60 GHz in the CMOS process. It will allow the wireless transfer of audio and video data to a maximum of 5 gigabits per second, ten times the current maximum wireless transfer rate, at one tenth of the cost. The researchers chose the unlicensed frequency band of 57-64 GHz as the millimeter wave range of the spectrum allowed the integration of high-chip components as well as the integration of very small high-gain arrays. The available 7 GHz spectrum results in very high data rates, up to 5 gigabits per second to users within an indoor environment, typically within a range of 10 meters. Some press reports called this "GiFi". It was developed by the laboratories of the University of Melbourne of NICTA (National ICT Australia Limited), Center of Excellence of Information and Communication Technologies Research of Australia. In 2009, the Wireless Gigabit Alliance was formed. He used the term "WiGig" which avoided the confusion of the trademark.

Advantages

Wifi is ideal for general wireless coverage, while Lifi is ideal for high density coverage in a confined region.
It is believed that the technology can produce a speed superior to 10 Gbps, which allows to discharge an HD film in 30 seconds.

Disadvantages

is that light waves can not penetrate the walls.
In 2012, this technology was demonstrated and was detectable up to a distance of 10 meters.
